We collect personal information that is necessary to provide the Tradies Local service:

• All users: Name, email address, password hash, IP address, device type
• Home Owners: Suburb, state, postcode (associated with job posts)
• Business Owners: Business name, ABN, business email, business phone
• Tradies: Full name, ABN, trade licence number, insurance details, phone number
• All users: Payment details (processed via Stripe; we do not store card numbers)
• All users: Messages sent via the platform contact form

• To provide, operate, and improve the Tradies Local platform
• To verify your identity, ABN, trade licence, and insurance documents
• To process payments and send payment receipts
• To send transactional emails (post approvals, expiry reminders, messages)
• To display your post details to other users (without personal contact details)
• To resolve disputes and enforce our Terms and Conditions
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

• With other platform users: Your post details are visible publicly, but your personal contact details (email, phone) are never shown publicly. Contact details are exchanged only when you choose to engage with another user through our messaging system.
• With service providers: Payment processing (Stripe), email delivery (Resend), and database hosting (Supabase). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
• With regulatory authorities: Where required by law.

We use essential cookies to maintain your login session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. Analytics, if used, are anonymised.

We retain your account data for a minimum of 3 years after account deletion. This is to comply with legal requirements and to resolve any disputes. Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by Australian taxation law.

Message history (contact form submissions) is retained for 3 years.

We use industry-standard security measures including 256-bit SSL encryption, database-level row security (RLS), and access controls. Passwords are never stored in plain text.

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and personal information (subject to retention obligations)
• Complain about a breach of your privacy rights

Tradies Local is not intended for persons under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the platform at least 7 days before the changes take effect.
