Your inputs

MEASURE FIRST

How to prepare your inputs

Measure usable panel dimensions, selected edges and kerf. Record grain direction and edge trimming separately.

How this calculation works

Uniform grid yield = floor((sheet length + kerf) ÷ (panel length + kerf)) × floor((sheet width + kerf) ÷ (panel width + kerf)). Compare the rotated grid.

Worked example

A usable 2,400 × 1,200 mm sheet with 600 × 400 mm panels and zero kerf yields 12 panels.

Assumptions & exclusions

Uniform grids only, not cutting optimisation. Dimensions must already exclude edge trimming. Rotating may be prohibited by grain/finish; mixed orientation may improve yield. Confirm a cutting plan before purchase.

Your next step

Confirm a panel cutting list, finish, edge tape and fabrication details with the cabinetmaker.

What if my shape or product is different?

Use dimensions and product data that match the stated method. For complex work, calculate separate sections or obtain a project-specific take-off. Do not apply simple geometry to structural or compliance decisions.

Why are quantities rounded up?

Whole bags, packs, sheets or cartridges round up to purchasable units. Decimal area or volume results are planning figures; confirm order increments with the supplier.

Are my entries saved?

No. Entries remain in the current browser page and clear on reload. Printing can save your results and inputs as a PDF on your device.
