Your inputs

Check all starting values against your project and product. Enter your own prices; keep costs on the same GST basis.

MEASURE FIRST

How to prepare your inputs

Measure the area to be insulated and check actual pack coverage, batt width and framing spacing.

How this calculation works

Required coverage = net area × layers × (1 + allowance). Units = round up [required coverage ÷ coverage per unit].

Worked example

24 m², one layer and 10% allowance needs 26.4 m² of coverage. At 7.6 m² per pack, buy four packs.

Assumptions & exclusions

Area-based buying estimate, not a cutting plan. Take openings out of net area before entry. Check product dimensions, layout, fire/acoustic ratings and fixing requirements separately. Insulation R-value and installation clearances are not selected by this tool.

Your next step

Confirm specified R-value, moisture management and clearances from electrical equipment and heat sources before installation.

What if my shape or product is different?

Use dimensions and product data that match the stated method. For complex work, calculate separate sections or obtain a project-specific take-off. Do not apply simple geometry to structural or compliance decisions.

Why are quantities rounded up?

Whole bags, packs, sheets or cartridges round up to purchasable units. Decimal area or volume results are planning figures; confirm order increments with the supplier.

Are my entries saved?

No. Entries remain in the current browser page and clear on reload. Printing can save your results and inputs as a PDF on your device.
